Hello Alder Families,
March at Alder continues with exciting learning opportunities for growth, and community engagement. This week our students continued to excel inside the classroom, during extracurricular activities and beyond.
In our classrooms, students have been deeply engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Our 8th grade English students are currently working on their Social Justice Project, developing research skills while exploring important real-world topics. In our 7th grade Social Studies, students have been diving into the Bill of Rights, building their understanding of the foundations of our democracy. In science, our 8th graders have been busy conducting hands-on chemical change labs, bringing their learning to life through experimentation and discovery.
Our students are also strengthening skills across other content areas. In Spanish classes, students have been building their thinking and communication skills by discussing healthy and unhealthy foods, as well as weather. In 7th grade math, students are tackling problem-solving with inequalities, while in health classes, important conversations have taken place around the effects of alcohol and teenage drinking.
We also took time to celebrate and have some fun together as a school community. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, students and staff dressed in green and participated in a school-wide rock, paper, scissors competition. Congratulations to 6th grader Tracey Noel, who came out on top and won all the beads!
We look forward to a strong and productive month ahead as we continue working together to support every student’s succes
Sincerely,
Ms. Cunningham
